Corrections Policy

How to report an error and how Government Shutdown Tracker reviews, corrects, and records material changes.

Report an error

Send the page URL, the statement you believe is wrong, and the best supporting source through our contact page. Primary government documents are especially helpful.

What happens next

We compare the claim with the controlling source, check whether the source has changed, and update the page when warranted. We prioritize errors affecting the current funding status, deadlines, employee instructions, benefits, and travel decisions.

Correction notes

Typos and small clarity edits may be fixed without a note. When a correction materially changes a conclusion, date, figure, or recommended action, we add a dated note near the affected content or at the end of the page.

Developing information

A later official change is an update, not necessarily a correction. We revise time-sensitive pages as legislation and agency instructions develop and retain the updated date.
